Techniques and apparatus are provided for operating a
wireless device in accordance with RF
exposure compliance. One example method generally includes, when an RFECS1 of a
wireless device is in an online state, determining whether the
wireless device is in an online state, if the RF
exposure limit is met and based on at least one of first RF
exposure information associated with one or more first radio components associated with a first RAT or second RF exposure information associated with one or more second radio components associated with a second RAT, the RF exposure limit is determined based on the at least one of the first RF exposure information associated with the one or more first radio components associated with the first RAT or the second RF exposure information associated with the one or more second radio components associated with the second RAT. Controlling at least one of the one or more first radio components or the one or more second radio components via RFECS1; and when the RFECS1 is unavailable, controlling one or more second radio components associated with a second RAT via a second RF
exposure control scheme in the event that the RF exposure limit is met and based on third RF exposure information associated with the one or more second radio components.
