712 results about "Wireless microphone" patented technology

A wireless microphone, or cordless microphone, is a microphone without a physical cable connecting it directly to the sound recording or amplifying equipment with which it is associated. Also known as a radio microphone, it has a small, battery-powered radio transmitter in the microphone body, which transmits the audio signal from the microphone by radio waves to a nearby receiver unit, which recovers the audio. The other audio equipment is connected to the receiver unit by cable. In one type the transmitter is contained within the handheld microphone body. In another type the transmitter is contained within a separate unit called a “bodypack”, usually clipped to the user’s belt or concealed under his clothes. The bodypack is connected by wire to a "lavalier microphone" or "lav" (a small microphone clipped to the user's lapel), a headset or earset microphone, or another wired microphone. Most bodypack designs also support a wired instrument connection (e.g., to a guitar). Wireless microphones are widely used in the entertainment industry, television broadcasting, and public speaking to allow public speakers, interviewers, performers, and entertainers to move about freely while using a microphone without requiring a cable attached to the microphone.

Earpiece/microphone (headset) servicing multiple incoming audio streams

The present invention provides a modular wireless headset with which to service multiple incoming audio streams. This modular wireless headset includes a wireless microphone and wireless earpiece. The wireless earpiece may exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with a base unit and render content contained within the exchanged RF signals to a user. This wireless earpiece further includes a wireless interface, a processor, a speaker, a user interface, and an authentication module. The wireless interface allows the earpiece to wirelessly communicate with the base unit. The processor recovers communications exchanged with the base unit that the speaker then renders audible. A user interface coupled to the processor may alert the user to any additional incoming audio communications. Having received the alert, the user may select between the communications. The authentication module allows the wireless earpiece and microphone to pair (forming the modular wireless headset) and register the headset with the base unit.

Wireless microphone for use with an in-car video system

An in-car video system and method is provided where a wireless microphone is configured with bi-directional communications capability. In response to a received RF activation signal, the wireless microphone is automatically switched on to capture (and transmit back to the in-car video system) an audio soundtrack that accompanies the images captured by the car-mounted video camera. A wireless microphone controller mounted in the car transmits the RF activation signal to the wireless microphone. The wireless microphone controller is arranged to transmit the RF activation signal when the video recording device starts recording. In an illustrative embodiment of the invention, the wireless microphone receives information, including a confirmation that the video recording device is recording, from an RF information signal received from the wireless microphone controller mounted in the car. The wireless microphone displays the information to the officer on a display screen. The wireless microphone sounds an audible alert when it receives the RF activation or information signals.

Pairing modular wireless earpiece/microphone (HEADSET) to a serviced base portion and subsequent access thereto

The present invention provides a modular wireless headset to support voice communications when registered to a base unit. This modular wireless headset includes both a wireless microphone and wireless earpiece. The wireless earpiece may further include a wireless interface, a processing circuit, a speaker, a user interface, a pairing circuit, and a registration circuit. The wireless interface allows the wireless earpiece to wirelessly communicate with the base unit that couples the modular wireless headset to a servicing network. This coupling to the service network and base unit only occurs when the headset is successfully registered to the base unit. The pairing circuit and registration circuit allow the exchange of pairing or registration information between various wireless components. The pairing circuit allows the wireless earpiece and microphone to exchange pairing information which is then compared to determine whether or not a successful pairing can be achieved. Successfully paired wireless earpieces and wireless microphones wirelessly communicate. The registration circuit registers the modular wireless headset to the base unit when the registration information associated with the modular wireless headset and base unit compare favorably. Components of the modular wireless headset that do not pair successfully are uncoupled from the headset. Similarly, wireless headsets that fail to register are communicatively uncoupled from the base unit.

Sensor activation of wireless microphone

A wireless microphone attached to a ruggedized, mobile digital video recording system may be used to record audio of events when activated. To conserve file space in a storage device, a sensor may be used to activate the microphone for audio recording, and to cause video recording to begin at the same moment through a pairing mechanism between the wireless microphone and the mobile digital video recording system. This sensor activation provides a complete audio / visual record of the event, or series of events, that caused the sensor to trigger. The microphone may also be manually triggered, thus providing a user with a means to capture audio / visual records in an ad hoc fashion. All recorded events are saved to files in a high-capacity storage device for later retrieval and review.

Transmitting data in a wireless white space network

There is provided a computer-implemented method for transmitting data over a wireless network using white spaces. A first white space transmission channel is determined for communicating with mobile client devices. Wireless communication takes place with the mobile client devices over the first white space transmission channel. If the first white space transmission channel becomes unavailable to one of the mobile client devices because of the presence of a primary user on the first white space transmission channel, a different white space transmission channel is determined for communicating with the mobile client device that is affected. The first white space transmission channel may become unavailable to the affected mobile client device, for example, because a primary user begins using the first white space transmission channel in proximity to the affected device. The primary user may be a wireless microphone. Thereafter, communication with the affected wireless device takes place on the different white space transmission channel, while unaffected devices continue to communicate on the first white space transmission channel. Also provided are an exemplary wireless base station and an exemplary mobile client device.
