Embodiment Construction

[0013] Figures 1-3 show a valve assembly 10 for use in a hydraulic system. Although the valve assembly is shown as a rocker valve (RCV), the valve assembly 10 can also be used with other hitch valves, check valves requiring zero leakage, counter-balance valves, and the like. The valve assembly 10 has a housing 12 with an inlet passage 14 and a tank passage 16 disposed therein. A valve passage 18 is also provided in the housing 12 . In this embodiment, the valve passage 18 is at right angles to the inlet passage 14 and the tank passage 16 , and a fluid flow path is provided between the inlet passage 14 and the tank passage 16 . Disposed in the valve passage 18 is a valve seat 20 which works with a spool 22 to control flow between the inlet passage 14 and the tank passage 16 . Although spool 22 is described, in another embodiment, spool 22 may be a check poppet.

[0014] The valve seat 20 extends from a first end 24 proximate the tank passage 16 to a second end 26 where a seat...

Abstract

A valve assembly for a hydraulic device. The valve assembly has a valve seat within a valve passageway used in combination with a spool. The spool has a first section wherein a flexible element is disposed within a cavity of the first section such that in a first position the spool and specifically the flexible element engages the valve seat to provide zero leakage from the valve passageway into a tank passageway. Additionally, the spool is designed to have an additional section at a second end to provide equal sealing areas at both the first and second ends of the spool to balance the forces within the valve passageway.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a valve assembly for a hydraulic device. In particular, the present invention relates to a zero leakage balancing valve system. Background technique [0002] Hydraulic systems, especially hydraulic systems requiring load holding capabilities, are always in demand in a variety of applications. An example is a three-point hitch on a tractor. All that is required is to hold the load in a fixed position relative to the tractor in any pre-selected hitch position. Currently, hydraulic valve systems that generally use metal-to-metal seals cannot fully meet this demand because leakage around the check and drop valves in the assembly drops this load. [0003] Pressure / force balanced spool valves in prior art hitch-type valves require the spool and seat to be fabricated with high precision to achieve force balance. However, due to typical manufacturing tolerances, it is unlikely that this balance provided will satisfy the nee...
