Embodiment Construction

[0049] in the attached figure 1 In , reference numeral 10 designates a drill rod comprising a pair of drill rod elements 12, 54 and a drill bit 14 according to the invention.

[0050] Refer to the accompanying drawings below Figure 2 to Figure 8 , each drill rod element 12 , 54 is substantially identical and includes an elongated shank 16 that is hexagonal in transverse cross-section and has a leading end 18 and a trailing end 20 . The shank defines a longitudinal axis 22 about which the drill stem element is rotatable in use. The drill rod element 12 also includes complementary connecting formations 24, 26 at the leading end 18 and the trailing end 20 of the shank 16, respectively.

[0051] as from the attached Figure 6 to Figure 8As can best be seen in the figure, the connection structure 24 at the front end 18 of the drill shank 16 is in the form of a leaf-like plug structure which projects axially from the front end 18 of the drill shank 16 . as from the attached F...

Abstract

The invention discloses a drill pipe component which comprises: a spindly drill stock which is provided with a longitudinal axis, a front-end and a tail end; and connection structures which are complementary on the front-end and the tail end of the drill stock, wherein the connection structures comprise a lobed plug structure axially extending from one end of the drill stock and a complementary lobed slot structure axially extending on the other end of the drill stock; also, the plug structure of the drill pipe component can be axially contained in the slot structure in an irrotional way, so as to be drivingly connected with the drill pipe component.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to drilling. More specifically, the present invention relates to drill stem elements. The invention also relates to joining components and methods of making drill stem elements. The invention also relates to connection structures. Background technique [0002] In underground mines, the roof of the tunnel is usually reinforced with anchor bolts which are installed in holes drilled in the roof of the tunnel. [0003] These holes are drilled using a drill that simultaneously rotates and applies an axial impact force to the drill rod. [0004] Drill pipe generally includes a drill bit at its forward end and one or more drill pipe elements connected axially end-to-end. A drill bit is mounted on the front end of the leading drill rod element and the drill rig used to rotate the drill rod and apply an axial load to the tail end of the rearmost drill rod element pushes the drill rod up into the tunnel roof. [0005] However, ...
