Embodiment Construction

[0024] figure 1 A clip according to the invention is shown, designated generally by the reference numeral 10 . In the following description, the operation of the clip will be described as it is used as a clothespin. However, it should be understood that the use of the clip of the present invention is not limited to securing garments on a clothesline.

[0025] The clip 10 includes a first leg and a second leg, indicated at 12 and 14, respectively. As shown in the figures, the two legs 12 , 14 are connected to each other at connections 16 and 18 . The legs 12 and 14 include toward their ends a gripping structure 20 which, in this embodiment of the invention, is formed as a serration to provide sufficient gripping force to hold the garment. The legs 12 and 14 are configured to face each other such that each corresponding clamping structure 20 defines a pair of jaws, indicated at 22 and 24 respectively.

[0026] As shown, legs 12 and 14 have the same curvilinear profile and ea...

Abstract

According to the invention there is provided a peg (10) comprising a first and a second pair of jaws (20 and 22), the jaws being movable between open and closed positions, the peg further including biasing means (30) for co-operation with the jaws for biasing them to their closed positions.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a clip. In particular, the present invention relates to a clothespin for securing clothes on a clothesline. Background technique [0002] Clothes pegs of all types are familiar to anyone who has ever secured laundry on a clothesline. An example of an existing clothespin includes two wooden legs secured to each other by using elastic metal straps. Two wooden legs form a pair of jaws at one end of the clothespin, the pair of jaws being configured for holding a garment. The two legs form a set of levers at the other end of the clothespin, which can be used to pivot the jaws to an open position when the user applies force to the legs, so as to be able to move between the two clamps. A portion of laundry and a short length of clothesline is caught between the claws. When the user releases the lever, the jaws close under the action of the elastic metal strap, thereby securing the peg and garment to the clothesline. [00...
