Abstract

An electric steering locking device can reduce a drawing force of a locking bolt and can perform a normal theftproof function. Furthermore an operation mechanism of the locking bolt can be selected more freely. The electric steering locking device is provided with the following components: a locking bolt (7) which can move between a locking position and an unlocking position; a driver (6) which is connected with the locking bolt (7); an electric actuator which causes the driver (6) to advance or retreat; and a spring (6) which applies a force for the locking bolt (7) in a locking position direction. The invention is characterized in that: a locking retainer (14) which can be engaged and disengaged from the locking bolt (7) is set to movable along a direction that is orthogonal with a motion direction of the locking bolt (7); a spring (15) which can apply a force to the locking retainer (14) in an engagement direction is provided; and furthermore the locking retainer (14) is moved through an operation part (6A) which is provided on the driver (6) so the locking retainer (14) is engaged with and disengaged from the locking bolt (7).
