Abstract

A vehicle latch comprises a locking mechanism 16, 17, 18 configured to be switched between unlocked and locked states. Operation of an inside lever 21 can change the latch between locked and unlocked by abutment portion 213 of inside lever 21 pushing against portion 172 on the lock mechanism. Double locking is provided by blocking lever 13 which retains the locked state of the latch and prevents the inside lever from switching the latch from locked to unlocked position. A pressing member such as spring 27 allows pivoting of the inside lever whilst maintaining the lock mechanism in the locked state such that preferably the inside lever which is connected to the inside handle urges a first lever 17 of the lock mechanism toward the unlocking direction whilst the blocking member 31 blocks movement of a second lever 16 toward the unlocking direction, spring 27 returning the first lock lever to the locked position. The inside lever and lock mechanism preferably operates in a one-motion fashion such that a single operation of the inside handle lever unlocks and unlatches the vehicle latch when in the un-double locked position.
