Abstract

The invention provides a method for extending a switch port, comprising the following steps: acquiring a media access control (MAC) address of a port which is perceived by uncontrolled bridging equipment; applying for a new tag to controlled bridging equipment, such as a service virtual local area network (VLAN) tag (s-tag); and storing a correspondence between the MAC address of the port which is perceived by the uncontrolled bridging equipment and a VLAN identification (ID) value in the applied s-tag. The embodiment of the invention also provides a device for extending the switch port.
