Abstract

The invention relates to a defibrillator device with a status indicating transport handle. A device and method for automatically indicating an operating status of a defibrillator is provided. The defibrillator device (10) includes a housing (12) and a handle (34) attached to the housing (12) constructed at least partially of a light-transmitting material. A user interface (20) is positioned within the housing (12) that includes a plurality of controls (22, 23, 26) thereon, with the plurality of controls (22, 23, 26) enabling a user to control an operating status of the defibrillator device (10). A light source (36) is positioned within the housing (12) that is configured to illuminate the handle (34) in one of a plurality of colors. The defibrillator device (10) also includes a processor (44) configured to determine the operating status of the defibrillator device (10) and selectively control the light source (36) to illuminate the handle (34) in one of the plurality of colors based on the determined operating status of the defibrillator device (10).
