Problems solved by technology

The performance of such compression garments is susceptible to the ability of the sleeve to maintain its initial tension and the ability of the inflatable bladder to maintain its initial position around the leg
This can be very difficult when using compression garments during and after moving (such as walking, sitting, standing, and rolling)
Garments tend to slide down the limb (specifically, the leg), causing discomfort and misalignment of the inflatable air cells within the garment with respect to the leg

Embodiment Construction

[0023] Referring now to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals indicate like or corresponding elements, various embodiments of the compression sleeve of the present disclosure will now be described in detail. Specific reference figure 2 and image 3 , the compression garment (or "sleeve") of the present invention is indicated generally at 11 . The compression garment can be connected to a controller (not shown) that supplies compressed air to the garment for applying repeated, sequential compression treatments to the wearer's legs. The compression sleeve may be configured to fit over other parts of the body within the scope of the present invention. Sleeve 11 is a knee-length sleeve sized and shaped to fit around the wearer's leg. It should be appreciated that the compression sleeve may assume different configurations, such as a thigh length sleeve. Figure 12 and Figure 13 One embodiment of a thigh length sleeve is illustrated in (described more fully below). Ot...

Abstract

A compression sleeve configured for a conforming fit to a portion of a wearer's body, such as a leg. The compression sleeve includes at least one inflatable bladder. The sleeve has a periphery including at least six edges and is configured to wrap around the wearer's leg so that the bladder encircles the limb for applying compression therapy to the limb. The shape of the sleeve conforms to the limb of the wearer and keeps the sleeve in place on the limb.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of and priority to US Patent Application No. 13 / 249,465, filed September 30, 2011, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to compression sleeves, and in particular to compression garments. Background technique [0004] Active compression garments for applying intermittent compression to a limb have many applications, including deep vein thrombosis prevention, edema prevention, and aid in wound healing. The performance of such compression garments is susceptible to the ability of the sleeve to maintain its initial tension and the ability of the inflatable bladder to maintain its initial position around the leg. This can be very difficult when using compression garments during and after movement such as walking, sitting, standing and rolling. Garments tend to slide down the limb, specifically the leg...
