Embodiment Construction

[0027] Figure 2A and Figure 2B An embodiment of a thrust reverser 200 is shown comprising an embodiment of a cascade assembly 100 with a flow deflection frame 110 according to the present invention. The thrust reverser 200 generally comprises a translating sleeve 16 movably connected to the rear end of the fixed part 12 of the nacelle. exist Figure 2A In , the translating sleeve 16 is shown in a retracted or stowed position, with the choke 18 stowed adjacent to the inner surface of the translating sleeve. exist Figure 2B In , the translating sleeve 16 is shown in the deployed position. In the deployed position, the choke door 18 extends into the fan duct 13 to block fan airflow through the duct 13 . same as Figure 2B As shown, deployment of the translating sleeve 16 opens the airflow outlet passage 15 in the nacelle structure and exposes the cascade assembly 100 disposed within the outlet passage 15 .

Abstract

An aircraft engine thrust reverser cascade assembly comprising a plurality of circumferentially spaced cascade sections, each cascade section comprising a plurality of spaced vanes including trailing vanes and plates defining a series of cells or air passages. The cascade assembly also includes an aft cascade ring removably connected to the aft end of the cascade section. A flow deflection frame is mounted to each cascade section and includes a deflection portion extending at least partially in front of a group of cells along the cascade section to which the flow deflection frame is mounted. The deflector is arranged to at least partially redirect at least a portion of the volume of air forwardly as the air flows outwardly through a set of cells of the cascade portion.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Application Serial No. 61 / 546,737, filed October 13, 2011, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to thrust reversers for use in turbofan aircraft engines, and more particularly to a thrust reverser blade cascade assembly including a flow deflection shelf, when the blades of the associated thrust reverser are deployed The flow yoke redirects at least a portion of the annular fan flow of the turbofan engine in the forward direction when the grid is closed. Background technique [0004] Modern turbofan aircraft engines include thrust reversers that selectively reverse the direction of the engine's annular fan flow for deceleration of the aircraft after landing. One type of thrust reverser for a turbofan engine includes an array of cascades mounted in selectively closable outlet holes in the engine's fan ...
