Problems solved by technology

[0003] One disadvantage of the sealing mechanism described in U.S. Patent No. 6,125,584 is that during use to push and hold the weather strip against the floor, downward pressure is not applied or maintained on the weather strip, but rather by The H-shaped housing is lowered by curved leaf springs that offer little resistance to upward pressure

Embodiment Construction

[0019] The main components of the pull-down seal have been shown in the prior art (particularly the elements identified in the above description).

[0020] Only improvements to such systems will be discussed in the following description.

[0021] Fig. 1 shows the automatic pull-down sealing mechanism at the bottom of the door in the prior art. The mechanism comprises a main elongated inverted U-shaped housing 10 for attachment to the bottom of the door. The housing 10 is provided with a slot 12 having a plurality of interconnected sliding blocks 14 and fixed blocks 16 and leaf springs 18, each of which is fixedly connected to a sliding block and a Fixed block. "Slider", which means a block that can slide in the groove 12 . Sliding of the slider 14 along the slot causes the leaf spring member 18 to flex downward, thereby pushing the seal 20 downward.

[0022] figure 2 and 3 An end section of a seal assembly constructed in accordance with the present invention is shown. T...

Abstract

An automatic door bottom drop down seal having an actuator (28) responsive to closing of a door for moving a sealing member vertically downwards into a sealing position relative to the door threshold when the door is closed. The actuator includes an arm (34) connected to a block (26) slidable within a channel (24) of the seal housing. The arm (34) is pivotally connected to the slide block (26) so to pivot downwardly to impart downward pressure on the sealing member (40).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an automatic pull-down sealing device at the bottom of a door. More particularly, the present invention relates to a sealing mechanism that imparts a downward force to the weatherstrip and resists upward pressure in use. Background technique [0002] Automatic door bottom seals are known. A very successful automatic pull-down seal at the bottom of a door is disclosed in US Patent No. 6,125,584. [0003] One disadvantage of the sealing mechanism described in U.S. Patent No. 6,125,584 is that during use to push and hold the weather strip against the floor, downward pressure is not applied or maintained on the weather strip, but rather by The H-shaped housing is lowered by curved leaf springs which offer little resistance to upward pressure. [0004] In use, the H-shaped housing drops against the floor to form a seal which is very effective as an initial barrier but has little or no soundproofing properties. Also, when multipl...
