5009 results about "Leaf spring" patented technology

A leaf spring is a simple form of spring commonly used for the suspension in wheeled vehicles. Originally called a laminated or carriage spring, and sometimes referred to as a semi-elliptical spring or cart spring, it is one of the oldest forms of springing, appearing on carriages in England after 1750 and from there migrating to France and Germany.

An image stabilizer has a base block, an inner frame for holding a CCD, an outer frame, a pair of horizontal leaf springs, a pair of vertical leaf springs, voice coil motors (VCMs) and a flexible printed circuit (FPC). Upon a shake of a digital still camera due to hand-held shooting, the VCMs shift the inner or outer frame while bending the horizontal or vertical leaf springs so that the CCD is shifted to counteract the camera shake. The FPC connected to the CCD and the VCMs is routed from the inner frame, through the horizontal leaf spring, the outer frame and the vertical leaf spring, and pulled out above the base block. The FPC is glued to the horizontal and vertical leaf springs, and elastically bent together with the horizontal and vertical leaf springs.

Apparatus for converting side-to-side driving motion to rotational motion with a spring assembly and system for tuning the spring assembly

The apparatus for converting side-to-side to rotational motion for a workpiece includes a spring assembly with a movable base mounting element which is driven in a slightly arcuate reciprocal side-to-side motion and a fixed mounting element spaced apart from the base element and mounted in the appliance so that it does not rotate or move in operation of the apparatus. A spring member, such as two planar leaf springs positioned at an angle to each other, is mounted between the movable base element and the fixed mounting element. A drive shaft member extends from the movable base element through the fixed mounting element and beyond. A workpiece such as a brushhead is mounted on the distal end of the drive shaft. The spring member is configured so that it is substantially less resistant to twisting action than bending action, such that the side-to-side motion of the base element results in rotation of the workpiece.A method for tuning resonant spring assembly systems used in appliances such as power toothbrushes, particularly leaf spring systems, includes the step of measuring the frequency-dependent amplitude of the appliance workpiece, and then removing a portion of the spring member so as to decrease its spring rate sufficiently that the resonant frequency of the spring member closely approximates the drive frequency of the appliance.

Autofocus actuator

An autofocus actuator is provided with a yoke 320 that comprises an inner cylindrical portion 321 defining an insertion bore 35 through which a hollow body portion of a holder is adapted to be received and an outer cylindrical portion 322 provided outside of the inner cylindrical portion with a predetermined spacing left between the inner cylindrical portion and the outer cylindrical portion by a connecting portion 324. Four tab-shaped portions 325 are integrally formed with an end surface of the outer cylindrical portion 322 of the yoke in such a manner that the tab-shaped portions remain flush with the end surface of the outer cylindrical portion and extend outwardly from the outer cylindrical portion. The tab-shaped portions 325 are so formed as to leave a concave portion 327 between the adjacent tab-shaped portions. This assures that the tab-shaped portion 325 can make contact with a leaf spring in a broader area, thus enabling the leaf spring to be reliably bonded to the yoke 320. Moreover, the yoke 320 can be aligned with ease by disposing a part of a support frame within the concave portions 327 formed between the adjacent tab-shaped portions 325.

Thereafter a fresh lancet (26) can be inserted into the cavity (6) of the lancet activating device from the lancet insertion aperture (9). The fresh lancet (26) forces the used lancet (27) out of the lancet activating device via the lancet disposition aperture (8) where it will be transited to an attached container (2) via an access opening (16) located at the top of the container (2). Throughout the procedure, the users of said lancet activating device do not need to come into contact with the patient.

Passive clearance control

The clearance between the tips of the rotor blades and the segmented shroud of a gas turbine engine is controlled by a passive clearance control that includes a support ring made from a low thermal expansion material supporting a retainer for the blade outer air seal that is slidable relative thereto so that the segments expand circumferentially and move radially to match the rate of change slope of the rotor during expansion and contraction for all engine operations. A leaf spring between the support ring and outer air seal biases the outer air seal in the radial direction and maintains the desired radial position during steady state operation of the gas turbine engine.

Vane assembly with metal trailing edge segment

Embodiments of the invention relate to a vane assembly formed by a forward airfoil segment and an aft airfoil segment. The aft segment is made of metal and can define the trailing edge of the vane assembly. The forward segment can be made of ceramic, CMC or metal. The forward and aft segments cannot be directly joined to each other because of differences in their rates of thermal expansion and contraction. The forward and aft segments can be positioned substantially proximate to each other so as to form a gap therebetween. In one embodiment, the gap can be substantially sealed by providing a coupling insert or leaf springs in the gap. A separate metal aft segment can take advantage of the beneficial thermal properties of the metal to improve cooling efficiency at the trailing edge without limiting the rest of the vane to being made out of metal.

Temperature compensation system for a coordinate measuring machine

A machine, such as a coordinate measuring machine, having a component or element movable with respect to a support structure along rails or guideways, wherein the rails have a coefficient of thermal expansion that is different from that of the support structure to which they are attached. Differential thermal expansion and contraction of the rails with respect to the support structure may be accommodated without binding or distortion of the rails by coupling each guideway to the support structure at two different points. Typically, the coupling at the first point is rigid and prevents any movement of the rail with respect to the support structure. The second coupling includes a flexible component that permits movement of the rail with respect to the support structure in a direction of movement of the element or component. This flexible component may be a leaf spring. In another embodiment, the first coupling may also be flexible. A method is also disclosed for accommodating differential thermal expansion and contraction of the rail with respect to the support structure by providing first and second couplings between the rail and support structure wherein at least the second coupling includes a flexible component that permits movement of the rail with respect to the support structure in a direction generally parallel to the direction of movement of the machine element.

Processing apparatus and method of processing and method of making leaf spring

A light source emits a laser beam to the object through an output end. An optical system is placed between the output end and the object. The optical system adjusts the energy of the laser beam emitted, through the output end, onto a unit area for a unit time. The energy of the beam spot on the object enables cutting or bending of the object. The optical system serves to adjust the energy of the laser beam irradiated to the object. The energy of the laser beam instantly changes as compared with the case where the energy of the laser beam is adjusted based on a driving voltage applied to a laser oscillator. The object is thus processed by using the laser beam with high accuracy.
