An Adjustable flood-resistant barrier for removable installation in a window or door opening or the like. A laterally adjustable frame is received within an elastic envelope and can be laterally expanded to engage the sides and bottom of the opening. An adjusting mechanism includes a shaft, which projects upward above the top of the frame, approximately in the center thereof, and mounts a handle for both carrying the panel and rotating the shaft to effect width adjustments of the panel. An improved peripheral seal minimizes the likelihood of leakage at the corners. For wide openings, mullions are provided to support central areas and to increase downward sealing pressures in the center of the panel. Mullions can also be positioned between an opposed pair of barrier panels for closing off unusually wide openings.

An apparatus and assembly for retaining a substantially flat, protective panel within a frame such as a window frame. In one embodiment, the panel retention apparatus of the present invention includes a bracket member for fitting over an edge of the panel, such that the bracket member provides edge and lateral support for the panel. The apparatus further includes a rack and gear mechanism affixed to the bracket member. The rack and gear mechanism preferably includes a circular driving gear and a rack member having a foot member attached at one end and further having a rack gear engaging the circular driving gear such that the rack member is linearly movable with respect to the bracket member responsive to rotational actuation of the circular driving gear. In a preferred embodiment, the rack and gear mechanism components are fabricated of a Delrin composite material which provides a lightweight, corrosion resistant, and low surface friction actuation assembly.

The flood vent has an elongated box-shaped frame having a top end, a bottom end including a floor, and opposing sidewalls that define a fluid passageway. The frame has an open front and a track formed in the rear of the frame. A door is slidably mounted in the track so that a normally closed position blocks the fluid passageway. The door is sufficiently buoyant to permit floodwater to float the door in the track and, thus, to automatically vent excess water through the fluid passageway. Installed in a crawl space, basement, or similar structure, the venting action of the flood vent limits hydrostatic pressure buildup against the walls of the structure when floodwaters rise, thus preventing structural damage from occurring.

A flood barrier protection system has a first barrier support member having a channel therein. A second barrier member spaced from the first support member having a channel therein. A barrier member disposed within both channels is sealingly engageable with one surface of each the support member. The barrier member has a rigid front wall and a rigid rear wall spaced across a gap form each other to form a hollow body open at at least one end. An upper engaging portion and a lower engaging portion each extend from the hollow body in opposite directions.

A flood barrier system for temporarily sealing an opening in a wall structure against the inflow of flood waters. The system comprises a plurality of elongated, horizontally disposed barrier elements of a length somewhat greater than the width of the opening. The barrier elements are stacked vertically, one upon the other against the outer face of the wall structure. End clamps engage opposite ends of the individual barrier elements to press them snugly against the outer surface of the wall, providing seals along the opposite vertical side edges of the opening. The barrier elements incorporate a unique interlocking configuration that simplifies and expedites assembly of a flood barrier and strengthens the integrity of the assembled structure. Improved and simplified arrangements are provided for clamping the ends of the barrier elements and for applying downward pressure to the assembled barrier. The resulting structure is more economical to provide and maintain and is more quickly assembled in the often emergency circumstances in which it is required.

A waterproof gate includes a door frame, two side rails mounted on two opposite sides of the door frame, a waterproof door movably mounted between the two side rails, at least one sealing gasket mounted on the waterproof door, and at least one waterproof strip mounted between the waterproof door and the door frame. Thus, when the water level exceeds a preset value, the waterproof door is moved down to press the ground tightly so that the waterproof door blocks the door frame so as to provide a waterproof effect to the door frame.

An entranceway barrier comprises two telescoping L-shaped frame assemblies having a ratcheting locking system that allows the barrier to be quickly inserted in a doorway. A self-locking ratchet mechanism allows the barrier to move outward exerting a securing force against a frame gasket placed in a doorway until the ratchet is manually released. A severable panel slides into a channel and is secured with a gasket channel seal to provide flood protection. Another embodiment comprises two telescoping C-shaped frame assemblies with two panel sections that slide adjacent to each other to provide adjustability.

The current invention discloses a flood barrier having a first compartment and a second compartment, both compartments being preferably in an elongated shape from a side sectional view and being parallel in position. The flood barrier also includes a blocking membrane disposed in the second compartment, wherein a bottom end of the blocking membrane is attached to the bottom of the second compartment and a top end of the blocking membrane is attached to a floating member. The flood barrier may be positioned in the ground in front of a building, wherein when flood water approaches, the floating member may be kept afloat and pull the blocking membrane upward to block the invasion of flood water.

The invention discloses an L-shaped flood control wall structure and a flood control wall group. The L-shaped flood control wall structure is characterized in that a main water retaining plate is hinged to a bottom plate; waterproof cloth is mounted in the main water retaining plate and the bottom plate; supporting fixing seats and steel wire rope fixing seats are fixed to the main water retaining plate and the bottom plate; the main water retaining plate and the bottom plate form a flood control wall through supporting of inclined supporting rods and stretching of steel wire rope reinforcing ribs; a bottom plate of the flood control wall is fixed to the ground, and is firmly pressed on the ground through pull hooks and pressing screws; and the bottom plate and the ground form a sealed structure. According to the L-shaped flood control wall structure, the L-shaped flood control wall group is formed through combination of a plurality of flood control walls with the same structure, and the main water retaining plate and the bottom plate are supported and stretched through the inclined supporting rods and steel wire ropes, so that the integral firmness and stability are improved; the pull hooks on the bottom plate are fixed to the expansion bolts on the ground, so that the bottom plate and the ground are sealed; and after the water level rises, the bottom plate fits the ground more tightly under the action of water pressure, the higher the water level is, the better the sealing is, and the capacity, of resisting floods in the flood season, of the flood control wall is greatly improved.

A flood protection barrier is disclosed that can be deployed in the event of an immanent flood risk. The barrier comprises a shield having a sealing element and securing means for securing the shield in place to at least partially close an aperture in a wall of a building. The sealing element forms a fluid-resistant seal between barrier and the periphery of the aperture thereby resisting passage of water through the aperture. The barrier can be secured by securing means that require no modification to the building. The securing means may include clip assemblies or, in alternative embodiments, wedges or other suitable components.

A liquid barrier system automatically deploys when a predetermined liquid level is attained, thereby preventing water or other liquid from entering a structure through an accessway, and automatically retracts when the liquid level recedes. The liquid barrier system includes a float housing assembly installed substantially below grade and adjacent an accessway to a structure. The system also includes a float assembly having a float which is positionable within a float housing relative to a liquid level in the housing. A barrier assembly includes a barrier interconnected to the float, and one or more seal members disposed along a periphery of an accessway. In a high water event, the float rises with the liquid level in the float housing thus causing the barrier to automatically deploy into a sealing engagement with the seal member(s) along the periphery of the accessway, thereby preventing the entry of fluid into the structure.

A waterproof gate assembly structure is constituted by a sheathing layer, a nozzle, an inflatable inner casing, iron pieces, and screw-holes, wherein the sheathing layer is fixed on a wall by transfixing fixing screws into the screw-holes, small holes, and pads, and an exterior of the sheathing layer is provided with the nozzle which is extended to the inflatable inner casing in the sheathing layer. Gas can be filled into the inflatable inner casing through the nozzle, until it is full, such that an unfilled space can be more tightly filled, thereby achieving an effective waterproof function. In addition, the sheathing layer is also provided with locking elements for taking out and replacing the inflatable inner casing.

An automatic water retaining device comprises two or more automatic water retaining units disposed in parallel, the automatic water retaining unit comprises a panel and a base, wherein the base is provided with a water storage cavity, the panel is rotatably disposed on the base, the water storage cavity is opened and closed through the rotation of the panel, a surface of the panel for covering the base is provided with a floating plate, one end of the base different from the end of the base connected with the panel is provided with a first water inlet communicated with the water storage cavity, and when water enters the water storage cavity from the first water inlet and contacts the floating plate, buoyancy is generated to the floating plate and the floating plate drives the panel to rotate and open under the action of buoyancy.

The invention provides a water retaining device for a passageway of an underground garage. The water retaining device comprises a supporting plate and panels, wherein an inflatable airbag made of rubber is connected with the bottom side of the supporting plate in a bonding mode; an inflating hole is formed in the inflatable airbag and is formed at the top end of the side of the supporting plate; hinges are fixedly connected to the surface of the supporting plate; the panels and the supporting plate are connected by the hinges; the two panels are separately arranged at two sides of the supporting plate; a sealing cover is arranged on the inflating hole. According to the water retaining device provided by the invention, the slope is adjusted by inflating and deflating of the inflating airbag, and motors and other devices are not needed; the water retaining device has the advantages of simple structure, convenience in assembly and disassembly and high safety performance.

A liquid resistant barrier for structural openings such as doors, windows, vents, or the like for use during floods or storms is disclosed. A barrier frame is placed within and about the periphery of the opening, with a gasket located on the structural side, to form a seal. A barrier frame cover, with a corresponding barrier frame cover gasket, is placed over the barrier frame and compression fittings used to hold them together. The gaskets form a seal that is impermeable to liquids and the barrier frame cover prevents damage by flotsam or dynamic pressure.

A novel design and construction method for the creation of a deployable flexible flood mitigation wall manufactured from textile and membrane materials. The flexible flood mitigation wall system comprises a textile/membrane wall and support posts configured to be movable between a stowed position and a deployed position and wherein, in the deployed position, the wall forms a leak-free barrier against flood water or other fluids. A series of posts that are manually deployed is used to support the fabric wall when hydrostatically challenged, and transfer loads to the ground. The wall is stored at the point of use in a surface box or trench box and keeps the loading from the flood water off the building, structure or equipment being protected. The flexible flood mitigation wall can be configured for use in many applications including entire buildings, building entrances, transit system passages such as ventilation shafts or elevator shafts, windows, stairwells, and other openings that can be threatened by flooding. It can be continuous such that it surrounds structures such as buildings and power substations, homes, or segmented, such that it can be used to seal openings of all kinds including human or vehicle doorways. It can be tailored to fit any opening and water height.
