Problems solved by technology

However, in some cases this option may not be available because the room or space is located in the interior of the building and lacks exterior windows
In other instances, simply opening a window is undesirable because opening requires monitoring, may be obstructed by inclement weather, or may be prohibited based on the design of the building
Additionally, the building may lack the ductwork and circulation needed to efficiently direct outside air into the room

Embodiment Construction

[0019] There is a need to address limitations in building automation systems and to provide an environmental effect that simulates opening an exterior window so that occupants in the interior space of a building can feel such an effect in order to provide a comfortable and refreshing environment to live and work in Building automation systems and methods. The interior spaces merely illustrate systems, methods and devices. Those illustrated and their equivalents may be utilized in other types of spaces including, but not limited to, exterior spaces.

[0020] The illustrated exemplary embodiments provide the discovery of systems and methods for implementing and providing simulated windows in buildings. The invention is not limited to those embodiments described herein, but rather, this disclosure encompasses all equivalents including those of different shapes, sizes and configurations. The system and method can be used in any field that would benefit from a window simulation s...

Abstract

A system for providing a simulated window utilizing environmental controls operable within a building automation system is disclosed. The system includes a building automation network deployed within a structure, a plurality of environmental controls in communication with the building automation network, where the plurality of automation controls are configured to control one or more environmental conditions within a space defined within the structure, a controller in communication with the plurality of environmental controls via the building automation network. The controller is configured to execute a first environmental control program to drive at least one of the plurality of environmental controls to a set point, and execute a transient environmental control program to increase an output of at least one of the plurality of environmental controls relative to the first environmental control program.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This patent document is required under Title 35, U.S.C., Section 119(e) of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. . 61 / 541,794 priority and all other interests, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference to the extent permitted by law. technical field [0003] This patent document relates generally to environmental control within buildings, and more particularly to a system and method for providing or simulating fenestration within confined spaces of a building. Background technique [0004] Known building automation systems are typically designed and configured to monitor, report and control environmental and / or security conditions within a building. For example, to maintain a temperature at a desired set point, the building automation system may drive one or more environmental control devices to steady state conditions centered around the set point. Building automation systems are capable of maintaining constant envir...
