Abstract

The invention discloses an image display device and a backlight adjusting method implemented by the same. The image display device is provided with a backlight module and comprises an ambient brightness detector, an image content analyzer and a backlight brightness controller. The ambient brightness is detected by the ambient brightness detector, image data are received by the image content analyzer, backlight brightness reference values are set by the backlight brightness controller according to the ambient brightness, and backlight brightness adjusting proportions are set by the backlight brightness controller according to the image data and the ambient brightness. The brightness of the backlight module further can be set by the backlight brightness controller according to the backlight brightness reference values and the backlight brightness adjusting proportions.
