Embodiment Construction

[0056] For the purpose of illustrating the preferred embodiment of the present invention, reference is now made in detail to the accompanying drawings. Different views of the adapter 2 according to the invention as Figures 1a-1d shown in .

[0057] Figure 1a A perspective view of an adapter 2 according to the invention is shown. The adapter 2 includes a connection piece 30 and an adapter piece 50 connected to each other. The connection piece 30 comprises a cylindrical tube 26 , while the adapter piece 50 comprises a tube 4 connected to a tip piece 10 which is further connected to the connection piece 30 .

[0058] A coupling 48 is provided between the tube 26 and the tip 10 . The coupling piece 48 is flexible and flexible, which ensures that the tube piece 26 remains mechanically connected to the tip piece 10 when the connection piece 30 is separated from the adapter piece 50 .

[0059] A thin tube 12 is inserted into the distal end of the adapter 2 . The tube 12 is ins...

Abstract

An adapter (2) configured to be connected to a probe tube (12) for calibrating a hearing aid device (54) is disclosed. The adapter (2) comprises a tubular pipe member (4) and an opening (8) through which the adapter (2) is adapted to receive the probe tube (12), where the adapter (2) further comprises an input member (40) configured to be connected to an connection member (60) in order to provide fluid communication between the probe tube (12) and the connection member (60) through the adapter (2), where the probe tube (12) has an outer diameter (D 1 ) and where the tubular pipe member (4) comprises a cylindrical space (20) having an inner diameter (D 2 ) and a length (L 2 ). The outer diameter (D 1 ) of the probe tube (12) is 5-20%, preferably 8-15% smaller than the inner diameter (D 2 ) of the cylindrical space (20) of the pipe member (4) and that the length (L 2 ) of the cylindrical space (20) of the pipe member (4) is at least five times, preferably at least ten times larger than the outer diameter (D 1 ) of the probe tube (12). Hereby it is achieved that a long narrow gab (52, 52') can be provided between probe tube (12) and the pipe member (4) of the adapter (2) so that a sufficient acoustic seal can be accomplished.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to adapters for "real ear measurements". In particular, the invention relates to a calibration adapter for calibrating in situ "real ear measurement" systems. Background technique [0002] A variety of hearing aids have been developed to correct the hearing of users with varying degrees of hearing impairment. In many situations, individual adjustments to the hearing aid are required in order for the hearing aid to function optimally. [0003] The foregoing adjustments are especially important for children and highly hearing-impaired persons. However, these types of adjustments may also be made for other types of users, according to individual sales or delivery office practices. The adjustment is based on the so-called "Real Ear Measurement" (REM), in which the sound pressure in front of the eardrum in the ear canal is measured with the patient wearing the hearing aid. [0004] Typically, REM is performed by a...
