The EtherCAT and CAN protocol communication device comprises an EtherCAT protocol transceiver, an EtherCAT protocol controller communicated with the EtherCAT protocol transceiver, an ARM central processor communicated with the EtherCAT protocol controller, a CAN bus controller communicated with the ARM central processor, and a CAN bus transceiver communicated with the CAN bus controller. The ARM central processor is connected with a data memorizer and a program memorizer. A communication method comprises the steps that the EtherCAT protocol transceiver receives and sends EtherCAT and CRDX data to the EtherCAT protocol controller, the ARM central processor reads the data in the EtherCAT protocol controller, the EtherCAT and CRDX data in the data memorizer are processed in a logical operation mode, CAN data and CRDX data of a CAN protocol are obtained, and generated CAN data frames and generated CRDX data frames are sent out through the CAN bus transceiver.
