Abstract

The invention relates to a device for preventing a curved beam bridge from horizontal displacement and a construction method thereof. The device comprises an outer component comprising a lower member and an inner component comprising an upper member. The upper member and the lower member are both formed to be L-shaped by plane connecting plates and vertical main supports. The left and right sides of each vertical main support are curved surfaces having equal upper and lower curvatures and consistent with the horizontal bending direction and the bending radius of the curved beam bridge. The inner and outer components and a combination, which fills between the same, of rubber and steel plates, are disposed between a pier and a beam to transfer horizontal displacement of the beam. Small displacements of the beam are prevented by the combination of rubber and steel plates; large displacements are constrained and absorbed by the lower member to allow magnitudes. When the displacements destroy the combination of rubber and steel plates, a combination of rubber and steel plates redesigned and manufactured according to calculation is used for replacing the destroyed one so as to prevent excessive displacements. By the use of the construction method, the device can effectively prevent the beam-falling caused by the horizontal displacement of the beam and an earthquake, and the maintenance of the device is easy. Besides, the device is installed on the original pier or pier cap, and the costs of enlarging the pier and pier cap are reduced.
