Embodiment Construction

[0019] now refer to figure 2 , which shows a block diagram of an electronic circuit 100 configured to implement automatic gain and offset compensation. exist figure 1 and figure 2 The same symbols refer to the same or similar components.

[0020] The circuit 100 includes a first register 102 storing a fixed (eg factory set) value of gain error (Gf) and a second register 104 storing a fixed (eg factory set) value of offset error (Of). Gain and offset errors overall correspond to the figure 1 The circuit 10 implements gain and offset errors. Therefore, these errors represent compensation for first-order system errors under rated supply voltage conditions and rated temperature ambient conditions.

[0021] Circuit 100 supports gain compensation by adjusting the operation of controllable gain element 22 within circuit 100 by a specified gain error (Gc) provided by gain error circuit 120 . Additionally, voltage compensation is supported by adjusting the operation of controll...

Abstract

Gain offset and voltage offset compensation for a controllable gain element of the circuit is achieved in response to the gain offset value and the voltage offset value. The current operating conditions of the circuit are sensed and compared to nominal operating conditions. If the current operating conditions are outside the nominal operating conditions by more than the threshold, a calibration operation is performed to set the gain and voltage offset values. The gain offset value is selected as a function of sensed current operating conditions. Regarding the voltage offset, the differential input terminals of the controllable gain element were connected in parallel, and the output was measured. The measured output value of the controllable gain element is applied as a voltage offset value. The operating condition may be one or more of supply voltage and temperature.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to electronic circuits (eg, of the type that perform signal amplification and conversion operations), and more particularly to the implementation of gain and offset compensation associated with such electronic circuits. Background technique [0002] refer to figure 1 , which shows a block diagram of a conventional electronic circuit 10 configured to implement gain and offset compensation. Circuit 10 may, for example, receive an input signal (In) and generate an output signal (Out). Circuit 10 is powered from a power source coupled to first power supply node 12 and second power supply node 14 . In one embodiment, the power supply may be configured to supply a Vdd supply voltage to node 12 and supply a ground supply voltage to node 14 . Circuit 10 may comprise any type of electronic circuit or component that performs a signal amplification operation. Examples of such circuits include, but are not limited to, s...
