Abstract

The invention discloses a backplane system, which is designed for a separate backplane of a server cabinet to allow a control module board to be hot-swapped. The split backplane design consists of a base plane and a control module board, wherein the control module board of the backplane system is connected to the base plane. The base plane board can draw power from a power supply and connect several electronic components that are not prone to damage or failure. The control module board contains several other electronic components that are susceptible to replacement or failure. The control module board is connected to the base plane board and can be removed during a failure of the control module board. When the control module board is removed from the base plane, the base plane and its functions continue to operate, and power does not need to be turned off in order to replace the control module board.
