The method provided by the invention comprises the step of detecting whether a genotype of the rs417014745 SNP site in genome DNA (Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid) of a sheep to be detected is an AA genotype, or a GG genotype, or a GA genotype, wherein the growth traits of the AA genotype sheep are superior to those of the GA genotype sheep; the growth traits of the GA genotype sheep are superior to those of the GG genotype sheep.
