The preparation method provided by the invention is simple. The photonic crystal material prepared by the method has a core-shell structure; in the structure, silica microspheres are taken as a core, and metal ions attached to the surfaces of the silica microspheres are taken as a shell. The metal ions have superparamagnetism, so that the photonic crystal material also has magnetic response performance. When an appropriate magnetic field is applied to the photonic crystal material, the volume locations or volumes of metallic particles are changed, so that the cluster lattice structure of photonic crystals changes, the position of a photonic forbidden band changes, and the colors of crystals are accordingly changed.
