Abstract

The invention discloses application of galanin to preparation of a reagent for preventing cerebral ischemic stroke. The application is characterized in that in the reagent, galanin (GAL) or a galanin receptor (GalR1) is used as the effective constituent, and the reagent is injected into a lateral ventricle of an ischemic cerebral hemisphere when a brain stroke occurs suddenly or during cerebral ischemia surgery, so that the reagent can penetrate through the blood-brain barrier to directly act on ischemic brain tissue. By the adoption of the technical scheme, GAL is single in constituent and definite in effect as a short peptide, can be artificially synthesized easily, and has the advantage of being low in production cost.
