Abstract

Disclosed are a water permeable material and a preparation method thereof. Waste glass is crushed and sieved for classification, and four classes of glass granules separately with particle sizes of 8 mesh or more, 8-20 mesh, 20-40 mesh and 40-80 mesh are obtained; any class of the glass granules in the four classes of glass granules is placed into a forming mould and is piled together; and sintering and cooling are performed to obtain the water permeable filter material. The method provided by the invention selects one class of glass granules with similar grain sizes for accumulation by using a character that a large porosity can be formed by close accumulation of equal-diameter balls, achieves self adhesion of the glass granules and further enables forming of a stable skeleton structure by using glass cohesive action caused by self softening of the glass granules in a temperature of the softening temperature or above, and organically combines solid waste utilization with reduction of environment loads by using the waste glass as a raw material so as to enable recycling of resources and effectively save the resources. The prepared product has double functions of water permeation and filtering. The method provided by the invention also has the advantages of simple technology, low energy consumption and low cost.
