The locking elements (11, 13) can releasably lock the plug housing (10, 10') to a socket housing (14). The flat conductor (1) decreases continuously at least partially in the width (b1) direction of the flat conductor until the end (8b) of the flat conductor, at least partially in an end region (8) derived from the plug housing (10, 10'). The flat conductor provided in this way meets the high automation requirements and is more reliably connected to the socket housing in an automatic flow.
