The flowmeter 1 is an ultrasonic measuring instrument. In this case, ultrasonic waves are transmitted by the first ultrasonic transducer 24 and received by the second ultrasonic transducer 25 and vice versa. From the difference in transit time, the velocity of the flow can be calculated and therefore the flow rate can be calculated when the flow cross-section is known. The control of the ultrasonic measuring devices 24 , 25 and the acquisition and processing of the measurement data are carried out by a control device (not shown). In order for the ultrasonic waves to pass through the flow channel substantially parallel to the flow direction, the flow meter 1 also has reflective elements 26 , 27 .
