Abstract

The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for performing master node switching processing in a blockchain system. In this method, when it is determined at the backup node that era switching needs to be performed, the backup node generates a first random number. If the first random number satisfies the era switching trigger condition, the backup node sends an era switching request message to multiple network nodes in the blockchain system except the backup node. At the backup node, a request acknowledgment message is received from at least one network node among the plurality of network nodes, the request acknowledgment message indicating confirmation that the backup node acts as a new master node. In response to the number of received verification passing messages being greater than a predetermined number, the backup node sends an era switching confirmation message to a plurality of network nodes.
