Abstract

The present invention relates to a vortex shedding flowmeter for measuring the flow of a fluid flowing in a conduit. The vortex shedding flowmeter comprises a sensor, a non-streamlined body rigidly mounted at one end of the conduit in the flow of the fluid, wherein the cross section of the non-streamlined body is based on a trapezoidal shape having, two bases, each of which has a first end and a second end; the body comprises a head surface and a tail surface, the head surface is arranged to vertically face the direction of fluid flowing flow, and the tail surface is arranged to the downstreamof the head surface; and two lateral sides having a plurality of serrations whereby the plurality of serrations provide a plurality of steep edges on both lateral sides of the non-streamlined body and form an angle for emitting vortices; the non-streamlined body is located at a predefined distance from the sensor, wherein the sensor is located downstream of the non-streamlined body.
