The invention provides a backup method of a session table , a host device and a dual-machine hot standby system, the method is applied to the host device, the host device is a network intermediate device between a client and a server, and the host device corresponds to at least one standby device. The method comprises the following steps: when a connection request message of a TCP protocol is received, determining whether the session table of the session exists locally, and sending the session table to standby equipment for backup; and when a reply message responding to the connection request message is received, judging whether the session table corresponding to the session is backed up in the standby equipment or not, and if not, discarding the reply message, so that the corresponding client retransmits the connection request message. By means of the retransmitted connection request message, the host device sends the stored session table to the standby device again for backup, and therefore it is guaranteed that TCP connection can be established between the client side and the server only after backup of the session table in the standby device is completed.
