Benefits of technology

The present patent describes a modular cross flow fan that allows for longer devices without the need for serial connections. The cross flow fans are designed to be strong and easily adjusted, making them cost-effective and easy to produce. The common housing made of extruded aluminum provides rigidity and light weight.

Problems solved by technology

The lengths of the blades in conventional cross flow fans are limited by insufficient strength of the same.
Therefore, long cross flow fans are rare in the market.
However, the serial connections of the abovementioned cross flow fans are costly in terms of assembly time and labor, and have poor strength and rigidity.

first embodiment

[0022]Referring to FIG. 3 to FIG. 6, the present disclosure provides a modular cross-flow-fan device including a housing 1, at least two cross flow fans 2 and a motor 3. The housing 1 is strip-shaped and is an extruded aluminum piece. The length of the housing 1 is variable, not limited, and adaptable to the quantity of accommodated cross flow fans 2. For example, if two, three, four or five cross flow fans 2 are to be accommodated, then the housing 1 is formed with different lengths accordingly.

[0023]The housing 1 has a first wall 11 and a second wall 12. The first wall 11 and the second wall 12 are connected and are preferably perpendicular to each other such that a cross section of the housing 1 is substantially L-shaped, namely bent. However, the included angle between the first wall 11 and the second wall 12 can be altered to be 80 degrees, 90 degrees, 100 degrees, etc. A guiding portion 13 can be formed between the first wall 11 and the second wall 12. The guiding portion 13 c...

second embodiment

[0028]Referring to FIG. 8, the modular cross-flow-fan device of the present embodiment includes a housing 1, two cross flow fans 2 and a motor 3. A cover 4 shields the air inlet 14 of the housing 1. The cover 4 is disposed on the housing 1 by assembly. The cover 4 has a plurality of through holes 41. The structure of the cover 4 is not limited, and can be a grille, a mesh, etc. The cover 4 shielding the air inlet 14 prevents foreign objects from entering, thereby increasing safety during operation.

third embodiment

[0029]Referring to FIG. 9, only one motor 3 is employed in the present embodiment. The motor 3 is disposed inside the housing 1 and is fixed to the housing 1 by screws. The motor 3 is connected to the axes 22 of two of the cross flow fans 2 such that the cross flow fans 2 can be rotatably driven by the motor 3.

Abstract

A modular cross-flow-fan device comprises a housing, at least two cross flow fans and a motor. The housing is an extruded aluminum piece having a first wall and a second wall, and is formed with an air inlet and an air outlet. The cross flow fans are disposed in the housing and connected to each other. The motor is disposed on the housing and is connected to at least one of the cross flow fans. By this structure, longer cross flow fans having preferred rigidity and strength can be formed.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[0001]1. Field of the Invention[0002]The present disclosure relates to a cross flow fan; in particular, to a modular cross flow fan.[0003]2. Description of Related Art[0004]Conventional cross flow fans can be installed at appropriate positions in buildings for driving flow of air, such that hot air current produced by heating devices or cool air current produced by cooling devices can be output for heating or cooling the ambience. The lengths of the blades in conventional cross flow fans are limited by insufficient strength of the same. Therefore, long cross flow fans are rare in the market. If a long cross flow fan is needed, typically two or three cross flow fans are connected in series. FIG. 1 discloses two cross flow fans 100 locked together at their respective ends proximal to each other by a plurality of screws 200, connecting in series to attain a greater length. Additionally, FIG. 2 discloses two cross flow fans 100 disposed on a base plate 300, co...
