The method includes leaving a data field of the physical layer packet empty for the first type user, providing second type user emission strength (in a spatial direction towards the first type user) that falls below a threshold value by controlling a spatial emission pattern associated with the second type user for the physical layer packet, and transmitting the physical layer packet.

The invention relates to a wireless communication apparatus and a control physical layer packet reception method. A wireless communication device includes a media access control circuit, a radio frequency circuit, and a baseband circuit. The media access control circuitry is configured to simultaneously join or create a network operating in a first channel and a second channel, respectively. The radio frequency circuit is configured to switch to the first channel according to the control of the media access control circuit. The baseband circuit is configured to stay on a first channel for a first symbol period for preamble detection. If the baseband circuit detects a physical layer grouping preamble during a first symbol period, the baseband circuit stays in a second symbol period in a first channel so as to continue to receive the preamble, calculates correlation between data received during the first symbol period and the second symbol period respectively, and transmits the correlation between the data received during the first symbol period and the second symbol period to the baseband circuit; and determining whether to continue to stay in the first channel to continue to receive the physical layer packet according to the received physical layer packet.
