A progressive system (local and wide) where a primary and secondary progressive meter is maintained is disclosed. When a progressive win event occurs, there are two payouts: the first payout (defined by the primary meter) is paid to the player triggering the progressive payout event; the second payout (defined by the secondary meter) is paid to other players (or game devices) having “active” or “enrolled” status at the time of the primary payout event. The present invention provides a method for automating the “shared” win, including means for readily determining “active” players. Various examples are provided for dynamically updating or adapting predictive modeling for prediction of outcomes of interest for operating systems and processes. Embodiments of the disclosure may provide systems, apparatus, processes, and methods for generating and deploying dynamically updated predictive models. In some embodiments, the predictive model may be deployed for the purpose of predicting operational outcomes of interests in operating systems, hardware devices, machines and/or processes associated therewith prior to the operational outcomes of interest occurring. The predictions can, for example, provide sufficient time for maintenance or repairs to be scheduled and carried out to avoid the predicted operational outcome. Autonomous evaluation of features allows the predictive models to be dynamically updated in response to changes in the environment or monitored data.

A method of making sodium zirconium carbonate is described which involves forming a mixture of zirconium oxychloride with soda ash and then heating at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient time to form the sodium zirconium carbonate. A device is described that may be positioned at a location in an intervertebral disc for diagnosis or treatment of the disc. Treatment may include, for example, applying energy or removing material, and may decrease intradiscal pressure. Radiofrequency energy may be applied. A percutaneous method of repairing a fissure in the annulus pulposus comprises placing an energy source adjacent to the fissure and providing sufficient energy to the fissure to raise the temperature to at least about 45-70° C. and for a sufficient time to cause the collagen to weld. An intervertebral fissure also can be treated by placing a catheter with a lumen adjacent to the fissure and injecting sealant into the fissure via the catheter, thereby sealing the fissure. A method for improving a turnaround time for design verification of a process database representing a semiconductor design includes the steps of (a) deriving a timing database and a (DNE) database from the process database; (b) performing, using the timing database, one or more design changes and one or more timing verifications and corrections to generate a modified timing database; (c) initiating, using the process database, physical validation of the semiconductor design prior to completion of step (b) to generate a modified DNE database; (d) merging the modified timing database with the modified DNE database to form a modified process database; and (e) performing, using the modified process database, one or more design verification checks of the semiconductor design.

The invention includes processes for combined polymer surface treatment and metal deposition. Processes of the invention include forming an aqueous solution containing a metal activator, such as an oxidized species of silver, cobalt, ruthenium, cerium, iron, manganese, nickel, rhodium, or vanadium. The activator can be suitably oxidized to a higher oxidation state electrochemically. Exposing a part to be plated (such as an organic resin, e.g. a printed circuit board substrate) to the solution enables reactive hydroxyl species (e.g. hydroxyl radicals) to be generated and to texture the polymer surface. That reduction can result in the formation of metallic catalytic material over the surface of the part. The reduced metal activator can then function to catalyze the electroless deposition of metal such as copper from solution by contacting the part with the plating solution.

The present invention relates to methods for treating inflammation in body tissues. More specifically, certain disclosed methods relate to selectively inducing apoptosis in inflammatory immune cells by heating cells for a sufficient time and at a sufficient temperature to induce programmed cell death. The disclosed stents can be placed in contact with the inflammatory cells and heated under controlled conditions. The disclosed apparatus and methods are particularly suitable for treating athersclerotic plaques.

A controlled release medicament delivery system comprises a plasticized bioerodible polymer, such as a polyorthoester. Medicament desirably is entrapped in the plasticized polymer. The resulting delivery system is able to release the medicament in a controlled and sustained manner. The formulation is particularly advantageous for use as a once-a-day eyedrop. During preparation, the polymer may be heated to an elevated temperature for a sufficient time to substantially reduce its molecular weight.

The throttle of an engine in an engine driven generator system operating under an intermittently heavy load, as in supplying current to a welder, is controlled such that successive control signals sent to a throttle actuator for adjusting the engine throttle position are inhibited until at least a predetermined time has elapsed since the last preceding adjustment to the throttle. A system and method to control the allocation of processor (or state machine) execution resources to individual tasks executing in computer systems is described. By controlling the allocation of execution resources, to all tasks, each task may be provided with throughput and response time guarantees. This control is accomplished through workload metering shaping which delays the execution of tasks that have used their workload allocation until sufficient time has passed to accumulate credit for execution (accumulate credit over time to perform their allocated work) and workload prioritization which gives preference to tasks based on configured priorities.

A method in accordance with the invention for chemical mechanical polishing of a copper or aluminum surface comprises applying the above composition to the copper or aluminum surface, and polishing the surface in the presence of the composition.

A method of synchronizing data transmission between a host computer system and a transmitter across an interface with variable delay or latency. The host computer system marks transition frames between successive transmission intervals and transfers the outgoing frames across the variable interface to the transmitter. The transmitter enqueues outgoing frames into one or more FIFO transmission queue(s) and processes the enqueued frames as appropriate for the communication protocol in use. Marked frames are detected as they reach the head of the appropriate transmit queue. In particular, while bypassing is not active, the transmitter transmits unmarked frames until the end of the current interval, or until there is insufficient time in the interval to transmit another frame or until a marked frame is detected. While bypassing is not active, the transmitter terminates transmission from the transmit queue when a marked frame is detected during each interval. While bypassing is active, the transmitter discards unmarked frames without transmission until a marked frame is detected. During each interval, the transmitter activates bypassing if a marked frame has not been detected and deactivates bypassing if a marked frame is detected while bypassing is active. The transmitter enables queue mark operation if a marked frame is detected while queue mark operation is not enabled. The transmitter increments a bypass counter each time an interval ends without detecting a marked frame, and disables queue mark operation if the bypass counter reaches a predefined limit.

For example, the present invention provides mRNA molecules and methods for their use to reprogram human somatic cells into pluripotent stem cells.

The consumer may receive a notification containing a reward status indicator. The reward status indicator may be text or a figure that indicates a status of a consumer's purchases toward a reward threshold. With this notification, the consumer can be aware both of how many rewards she has already earned, and how many more rewards she may need to obtain to redeem any rewards. The benefit notification message may be sent while the consumer is still near the merchant, such that that the consumer can receive the message with enough time to act on the reward information.

An apparatus and method for making a seam-welded steel pipe free of untempered martensite without seam anneal. The method includes selecting a steel containing a carbon concentration below a predetermined level, for example, 0.14% or 0.12% by weight. The method also includes flooding both outside and inside of the strip with a coolant while the weld seam is being formed, and continuing to immerse the welded strip for a sufficient time after the weld seam is formed to prevent the formation of untempered martensite. The apparatus includes a heater capable of heating the strip to a temperature sufficient to form a welded seam, a cooling module configured to supply a coolant to the welded seam both inside and outside of the strip as the weld seam is being formed, and another cooling module configured to immerse the welded strip in a coolant after the weld seam is formed for a sufficient length of time to prevent the formation of untempered martensite.

A safety system for providing early warning notifications to an authorized track worker performing official duties along a rail road network is disclosed herein. The safety system determines the position of the authorized worker and determines an estimated time to collision between the authorized track worker and an approaching rail vehicle. The result of the safety system is that the track worker has enough time and sufficiently accurate warning that will enable the track worker to move to a point of safety so as to remain unharmed by the approaching rail vehicle.

A bioabsorbable stent includes one or more radiopaque markers. The stent body may include a generally cylindrical body portion and a marker support for receiving the one or more marker(s). The marker support may be connected to an end of the body portion, or may be an integral portion of the body portion. By selectively controlling dissolution of the biodegradable material of the marker support, the marker support will remain intact for a sufficient time to allow for the marker to endothelialize and therefore prevent the marker from dislodging and embolizing. Hydrocarbon and hydrogen fuels and other products may be produced by a process employing a combination of fermentation and electrochemical stages. In the process, a biomass contained within a fermentation medium is fermented with an inoculum comprising a mixed culture of microorganisms derived the rumen contents of a rumen-containing animal. This inoculated medium is incubated under anaerobic conditions and for a sufficient time to produce volatile fatty acids. The resultant volatile fatty acids are then subjected to electrolysis under conditions effective to convert said volatile fatty acids to hydrocarbons and hydrogen simultaneously. The process can convert a wide range of biomass materials to a wide range of volatile fatty acid chain lengths and can convert these into a wide range of biobased fuels and biobased products.

After the probe position in the tissue has stabilized, the applied power to the probe may be increased to heat the tissue to a selected second temperature that is lethal to tissue for a sufficient time to ablate the tissue followed by lowering the tissue heating to a sub-lethal temperature. Apparatus for practicing the method is also disclosed.
