Abstract

A multi-domain liquid crystal display device comprises a colorful filter baseboard, an active element array baseboard, and a liquid crystal layer between, wherein the colorful filter baseboard is provided with a first share electrode, the active element array baseboard is arranged with a second share electrode and a pixel electrode, while the second share electrode surrounds and cooperates with the pixel electrode to generate an edge electric field. The invention can overcome the defects of prior technique, while each liquid crystal molecule is vertically directed without voltage (Voff), to avoid abundant optical path difference (delta nd=0), and avoid light leakage, and compared with prior method that forming slim at electrode, the invention uses the edge electric field generated by the voltage difference between the second share electrode and the pixel electrode, to provide a strong liquid crystal molecule flip force, to reduce the formation of bias defect area to improve the light penetrate rate.
