The method is used for a video conference system comprising at least one multi-pointcontrol unit (MCU) and at least one conferencing terminal. The method comprises the following steps: according to the received microphone state information, the MCU updates and stores the microphonestates of the corresponding conferencing terminals, and transmits indication information carrying the microphone states of all the conferencing terminals to the conferencing presider terminal, whereinthe microphone state information comes from the conferencing terminals of which the microphone states are changed; and the conferencing presider terminal acquires the microphone states of all the conferencing terminals according to the indication information. The invention enables the conferencing presider terminal to quickly position the microphone states of all the conferencing terminals and dispose the problem of no sound of the conferencing terminals in time.
