Abstract

The invention relates to providing meter electronics (20) for friction compensation of a vibratory flow meter. The meter electronics (20) includes an interface (201) configured to communicate with a flow meter assembly (10) of a vibratory flow meter (5) and to receive a vibration response, and a processing system (203) Coupled to the interface (201) and configured to measure the mass flow rate of the fluid using the vibrational response. The processing system (203) is configured to determine fluid velocity (V) using mass flow rate, fluid density (ρ), and cross-sectional flow area (A), and to determine friction factor (f) using fluid velocity (V) and pressure drop (ΔP) , and use the friction factor (f) to determine the compensation factor.
