Abstract

The method involves providing driving power to internal combustion engine (16) using electric machine (14). The fuel is injected into cylinder of piston-cylinder arrangement of internal combustion engine. The fuel-oxygen mixture in the cylinder is ignited. A crankshaft (20) of internal combustion engine is connected with electrical machine through clutch (26). The internal combustion engine is started directly by engaging the clutch with electric machine. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) control unit for starting internal combustion engine; and (2) motor vehicle drive train.
