Each rod 12 includes a first conductor 14 and a second conductor 16 . refer to image 3 , which shows a simplified schematic diagram of bars each comprising a stationary contact 18 electrically connected to the second conductor and a movable contact 20 electrically connected to the first contact 14 . An actuator (not shown) selectively moves movable contact 20 into or out of contact with stationary contact 18 . According to one embodiment, the actuator is a magnetic actuator, however other actuators may also be used. In this manner, the electrical connection between the first and second contacts 14 and 16 can be selectively opened and closed.
