Abstract

The present invention relates to a system and method for harvesting wind energy from air exhausted by other systems. Ventilation and heat exchange systems force air movement using fans. Exhaust airflow may also be the result of a combustion system. The exhaust air is generally wasted as it is diffused back to the atmosphere. Significant energy may be recovered from this exhaust air using relatively small turbines inserted into the airflow. Careful positioning of the turbine maximizes the recovery efficiency.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a system and method for improving the performance of airflow energy harvesting technology. In particular, some forced air applications can generate air flow, such as using ventilation or heat exchange systems or other fan-driven air movement, which can reduce installation costs. The present systems and methods are particularly useful in ventilation systems for livestock buildings such as barns for pig and poultry production. Background technique [0002] In animal farming, stables require good ventilation. [0003] Modern pig houses (and poultry houses) are complex in structure and have high requirements for environmental control. Many structures employ tunnel ventilation. The ventilation system is an important part of the livestock building and should be integrated into the livestock building to form a qualified residence and contribute to biosecurity and disease prevention. Buildings with open windows are not adeq...
