Electronic cigarette

An electronic cigarette has two tubes that resemble a cigarette: an electronic inhaler and an electronic atomizer. The two tubes are connected through one or more electric connectors to form an electronic cigarette. Inside the inhaler is a rechargeable or non-rechargeable power source such as a battery, which supplies electric power to the electronic inhaler and atomizer and ensures that both work together like a cigarette. In addition to the power source, the inhaler also includes other major components: an electric airflow sensor to detect air movement generated by a user's inhaling or puffing act and a Single Chip Micyoco which controls the atomization process. The sensor's role is to collect an airflow signal that triggers the Single Chip Micyoco, which in turn instructs the electronic cigarette to supply electric power to the inhaler and atomizer connected through an electric connector. Inside the electronic atomizer are an electric connector, electric heating wire, liquid container, and atomizer cap with an air-puffing hole. The user inhales through the air-puffing hole at an end of the electronic cigarette to create an air inflow, which triggers the atomization process. The Single Chip Micyoco driven by a software program controls the electronic cigarette in an on / off manner according to the signal detected by the electric sensor on the airflow and completes a cycle of atomization, which converts a solution of a liquid form inside the liquid container to a gas form. This entire process achieves the emulated smoking process of a user, who is satisfied with scent taste that mimics cigarette smoking.

Method and apparatus for making crystalline PET pellets

A method and apparatus for underwater pelletizing and subsequent drying of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers and other high temperature crystallizing polymeric materials to crystallize the polymer pellets without subsequent heating. High velocity air or other inert gas is injected into the water and pellet slurry line to the dryer near the pelletizer exit. Air is injected into the slurry line at a velocity of from about 100 to about 175 m3 / hour, or more. Such high-speed air movement forms a vapor mist with the water and significantly increases the speed of the pellets into and out of the dryer such that the PET polymer pellets leave the dryer at a temperature sufficient to self-initiate crystallization within the pellets. A valve mechanism in the slurry line after the gas injection further regulates the pellet residence time and a vibrating conveyor after the dryer helps the pellets to achieve the desired level of crystallinity and to avoid agglomeration.

Fluidic Test Cassette

InactiveUS20160310948A1Facilitate resuspensionImproved mixing and dispersionHeating or cooling apparatusMicrobiological testing/measurementPath lengthFlexible circuits
A disposable cassette for detecting nucleic acids or performing other assays. The cassette can be inserted into a base station during use. The cassette has numerous features to ensure correct operation of the device under gravity, such as vent pockets for enabling the flow of sample fluid from one chamber to the next when the vent pocket is unsealed. The vent pockets have protrusions to help prevent accidental resealing. The cassette also can have a gasket to ensure free air movement between open vent pockets. A flexible circuit with patterned metallic electrical components disposed on a heat stable material can be in direct contact with fluid in the chambers and has resistive heating elements aligned with the vent pockets and the chambers. The detection chamber, which houses a lateral flow detection strip can have a space below the strip that has sufficient capacity to accommodate an entire volume of the sample fluid entering the detection chamber at a height that enables the fluid to flow up the detection strip by capillary action without flooding or otherwise bypassing regions of the detection strip. The space can also contain detection particles. Recesses in in the cassette channels or chambers can have structures such as ridges or grooves to direct fluid flow to enhance rehydration of lyophilized reagents disposed in the recess. Flow diverters in the chambers can reduce the flow velocity of the sample fluid and increase the effective fluid flow path length, enabling more accurate control of fluid flow in the cassette.

Multi-Axis Wind Turbine With Power Concentrator Sail

A wind energy to electrical power conversion device provides a protected multiple turbine mechanism axially aligned to convert kinetic energy of air movement, i.e. wind (or other moving fluid such as water), into rotational mechanical power to directly create electrical energy by the reaction of the wind with the turbine. The present wind energy to electrical power conversion device may either be configured as a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) or horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT). An associated wind gathering sail automatically repositions itself to maximize wind intake and to collect and concentrate the wind prior to converting the wind into energy via the axially aligned multi-turbine mechanism into electrical energy. The remaining wind is released via a leeward-facing exhaust. The present axially aligned multi-turbine mechanism avoids interference by birds and other outside objects due to its inherent structural visibility.

Portable seat cooling apparatus

The present invention relates to a seat or chair cooling apparatus. In an embodiment the seat cooling apparatus cools the back of a user without the need of forced air. The seat cooling apparatus includes an array of conduits held in place by a set of supports to form a heat exchanger. Heat from the contact surfaces is removed by free convection, an upward air movement due to density difference. When the seat cooling apparatus is in the preferred substantially vertical arrangement, the warm air exiting the conduits is replaced by cooler air entering the conduits. A seat securing attachment secures the heat exchanger components to a seat. The seat cooling apparatus shapes into the back of the user to provide comfort that is effective in cooling. The seat cooling apparatus can be light weight, portable, and occupies little space, can be quickly installed and removed, easily cleaned and is very low cost to manufacture. In another embodiment, the seat cooling apparatus is easily connected to a forced air cooling source to increase the cooling rate if desired by the user.

Automatic air movement for hair dryers

An oscillating hair dryer nozzle assembly attaches to a hand held electric hair dryer. An oscillating nozzle is pivoted back and forth by forced air generated by an electric motorized fan within the hair dryer. A propeller receives the forced air and rotates a propeller shaft which is coupled to a gear reduction assembly. The gear reduction assembly converts the rotational motion of the propeller shaft into repetitive pivotal movement of the oscillating nozzle. The oscillating nozzle automatically redirects the air flow in a plane. In one embodiment, the nozzle assembly is rotatably attached to the output barrel of a hair dryer body so that the oscillating nozzle can be rotated to pivot and redirect air flow in a different plane.
