Abstract

A device for inhibiting spontaneous combustion of open-air coal piles comprises a water tank, not full. A distribution and discharge pipe externally connected with a blower through an air supply pipe is arranged in the water in the water tank. A level meter is further disposed in the water tank. A water supplement pipe connected with a tap water source or other water sources is disposed on one side of the water tank. A drain pipe provided with a filter and connected with a drainage pump is disposed at the bottom of the water tank. The invention further provides a method for inhibiting spontaneous combustion of open-air coal piles. By the use of the device and method, the amount of oxygen absorbed by coal of the coal piles can be reduced, oxidization speed can be decreased, and adsorption heat and reaction exotherm are decreased. The coal piles can be cooled by air flowing in voids, so that spontaneous combustion of the coal piles is inhibited. The device manufactured according to the method has the advantages of simple structure, low energy consumption, convenience in operation, sufficient air source and the like and is conveniently applicable to coal-fired power plants.
