Abstract

A reusable fitting for attaching tubing to a port is described. Accessories include housings, springs, retainers and caps. The retainer is capable of locking the pipe in the fitting and unlocking the pipe. The fitting provides a fluid-tight high-pressure seal and substantially zero void volume at the junction of two fluid conduits. The fitting is removable, reusable and replaceable, and allows the user to connect and reconnect the capillary to the fluid port without permanently bonding the ferrule to a particular capillary, and thus to a particular port. Accessories can be replaced if part or all of the accessories are damaged during use.
