Abstract

The present invention provides a method, apparatus and system for placement of ports (12, 22, 32) for surgical tools (20, 30) relative to real-time anatomical data. The method comprises: placing an endoscope (10) within a standard port (12); determining real-time anatomical data from images from the endoscope (10); using a port locating device (210) to identify An optimal location of the port relative to the image from the endoscope; and, an instrument port is created at the identified location.
