Abstract

Apparatus for the transportation of objects comprising a reservoir (20) with an outlet for providing a plurality of objects and a distribution wheel (2) rotatable in a substantially horizontal plane. The distribution wheel (2) is in communication with the outlet of the reservoir (20) and is capable of transporting the objects from a central portion (22) of the distribution wheel (2) to a peripheral portion of the distribution wheel (2). The apparatus further comprises a retention device (1) for holding the objects back on the distribution wheel (2), the retention device (1) comprises a retention element (11) and an actuator (10) adapted to move the retention element (11) from a release position in which the objects can be transported from the central portion (22) to the peripheral portion of the distribution wheel (2), into an object blocking position in which the transportation of the objects is interrupted.
