Abstract

The technology described herein relates generally to optical devices and methods of manufacturing optical devices. An exemplary optical device includes a first substrate having a first optical component, a second substrate coupled to the first substrate, and a cured resin. The first substrate has a first optical component. The second substrate has at least one support structure and a second optical component supported by the at least one support structure. The at least one support structure has at least one receptacle. The cured resin is disposed in the at least one receptacle of the at least one support structure effective to position the second optical component relative to the first optical component.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to optical devices, and more particularly, to optical devices having a first optical device and a second optical device aligned with the first optical device. Background technique [0002] Unless otherwise indicated herein, the materials described in this section are not admitted to be prior art to the claims in this application by inclusion in this section and are not admitted to be prior art. [0003] An optical device may consist of multiple optical components. For example, optical devices can be formed by combining a variety of optical components, including light-emitting components such as laser diodes (LDs) or light-emitting diodes (LEDs), passive components such as lenses, waveguides, or switches, and (CCD) light receiving part. In general, such an optical device can be manufactured by mounting each optical component on a substrate. Mounting robots can be used to adjust the optical axis of each optical...
