Abstract

The invention discloses a method for transmitting video files, wherein the method is applied to a client and comprises the following steps: obtaining a video file to be uploaded; obtaining a fingerprint and a video length of the video file; sending the fingerprint and the video length of the video file to a server; receiving feedback indicating uniform fingerprint matching but non-uniform video length matching sent by the server; segmenting the video file into a plurality of video segments, and obtaining the fingerprints of the plurality of video segments; sending the fingerprint of each video segment of the video file to the server; receiving the fingerprint fed back by the server; and uploading the video segment corresponding to the fed back fingerprint. The invention further discloses a method of a server for transmitting video files corresponding to the method and a client and a server for achieving the method, so as to effectively non-uploaded video files to the server.
