A method and apparatus for an interactive video game to be displayed on a video display device. The gaming apparatus includes a game controller adapted to control the outcome of a game played on the gaming machine for display on the display device. A player interface is coupled to the gaming apparatus and is configured to input information data personally identifying a player operating the gaming machine. This personal identification data, such as a players name, birthdate, digitized facial pictures of player, etc., is then integrated into the game for integral display in the game outcome on the display device. Thus, player interaction is increased by customizing the game screen presentation to include their personal information.

A device allows easy and unencumbered interaction between a person and a computer display system using the person's (or another object's) movement and position as input to the computer. In some configurations, the display can be projected around the user so that that the person's actions are displayed around them. An interactive video window display system. A projector projects a visual image. A screen displays the visual image, wherein the projector projects the visual image onto a back side of the screen for presentation to a user on a front side of the screen, and wherein the screen is adjacent to a window. An illuminator illuminates an object on a front side of the window. A camera detects interaction of an illuminated object with the visual image, wherein the screen is at least partially transparent to light detectable by the camera, allowing the camera to detect the illuminated object through the screen. In one embodiment the system and method of provides contextual content via an interactive video skin to an end user viewing a video in a client. These video skin may surround the viewing portal and (1) provide contextual information in the areas outside the video viewing area, (2) embody logic that manipulates the video stream to insert audio, text, graphics, and/or video, (3) interact with third party servers, (4) interact with the user via menus, buttons, and/or graphical widgets, or (5) any combination thereof. In one embodiment, the method may comprise determining contextual data for the end user that comprises one or more of: geographical information of the end user; demographical information of the end user; personal information of the end user, video metadata, and technical data related to the end user's computer or the network to which the computer is connected. Next, the method may include determining advertising content to present to the end user based on the contextual data and presenting the advertising content to the end user concurrently with the video player such as along a periphery of the video player. The advertising content may include a user input mechanism configured to receive information from the end user in which case the method may further include receiving information from the end user via the input mechanism, determining secondary content to present to the user based on the received information, and presenting the secondary content to the end user. The method may also include receiving one or more content elements selected based on the contextual data and supplying the one or more content elements to the video player for integration into the video to thereby customize the video.

System and method for interactive video game fitness equipment. Fitness hardware (e.g., an exercise bicycle, a stair machine, treadmill, elliptical trainer, rotary climbing wall, or other fitness equipment) interacts with a video game, optionally via various devices, e.g., a PC, gaming console, or other hardware and/or software device or system capable of implementing an interactive application), for an immersive hybrid exercise/game user experience.

A video game includes a peripheral device that senses the presence and identity of toys near or on the peripheral. Each of the toys includes an identification device such as an RFID tag. Each of the toys is also associated with a corresponding game character or object. In particular, the Video Browser processes the video to generate a set of video sprites representing unique events occurring within the overall period of the video. These unique events include, for example, motion events, security events, or other predefined event types, occurring within all or part of the total period covered by the video. Once the video has been processed to identify the sprites, the sprites are then arranged over a background image extracted from the video to create an interactive static video montage. The interactive video montage illustrates all events occurring within the video in a single static frame. User selection of sprites within the montage causes either playback of a portion of the video in which the selected sprites were identified, or concurrent playback of the selected sprites within a dynamic video montage.
