The invention provides methods and devices for image encoding and decoding. The method for image encoding comprises: conducting matching encoding for pixels of an input video image to obtain one or more matching relationship parameters, wherein the matching relationship parameters are parameters used during construction of predictive values and / or restoring values of the pixels in the image; mapping the matching relationship parameters to obtain map values of the matching relationship parameters; and conducting entropy coding for the map values of the matching relationship parameters. By means of the methods and devices provided by the invention, the problems caused by performing entropy coding directly on the matching relationship parameters in the prior art can be solved, so as to achieve a good data compression effect of entropy coding.
