[0019] Thermal imaging cameras may be used to detect a heat pattern of the entire scene under observation including one or more objects. The thermal imaging camera may detect infrared radiation emitted by the scene and convert the infrared radiation into an infrared image indicative of a temperature map. In some embodiments, the thermal imaging camera can also capture v...

Abstract

The invention relates to a bayonet force booster for an add-on lens. An add-on lens assembly supporting an add-on lens for a camera includes a locking mechanism actuatable by the user in order to increase the attachment force between the lens and the camera. The add-on lens assembly may include a rotatable lock ring having a cam pin that navigates along a surface of a cam such that when the lock ring is rotated, the cam pin causes the cam to translate axially. Axial translation of the cam may compress a spring within the assembly and increase the attachment force between the lens assembly and the camera. The increased force between the add-on lens assembly and the camera may provide additional support for large or heavy assemblies.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for attaching add-on lens assemblies to video cameras or other imaging systems. Background technique [0002] Thermal imaging cameras are used in a variety of situations. For example, thermal imaging cameras are often used to thermally inspect equipment during maintenance inspections. Exemplary equipment may include rotating machinery, electrical panels, or banks of circuit breakers, among other types of equipment. Thermal inspections use infrared (IR) energy detection to detect hot spots in equipment, such as overheated mechanical or electrical components, helping to ensure that overheated equipment is repaired or replaced before more serious problems occur. [0003] Depending on the camera configuration, thermal imaging cameras can also produce visible light images of the same objects. The cameras may display infrared images and visible light images in a coordinated manner, for example, to aid ...
