Abstract

According to the method, images of single granules by subjecting heated grain granules to be detected to thermal imaging are extracted; characteristic parameters related to the grey value of the image of each granule are extracted, are made dimensionless and adopted as inputs of a built classification model; and whether each granule carries worm or not is determined according to outputs of the classification model. Only by collecting thermal images of the grain granules, early detection of larvae of different hidden type insects can be performed, detection results are accurate, and an imaging process does not destroy integrity of grains, does not need any chemical agent, and is free of generation of harmful compounds. In addition, worm-eaten grain granule detection and counting are automatically performed by a computer in the method, do not require manual participation and do not influence health of workers. The method is a green and nondestructive detection technique.
